CNN: ObamaCare Site Doomed, Riddled with Security Dangers

Today, on the CNN Money site, there is a terrific story about the problems surrounding the ObamaCare website. The story includes all kinds of new information from a host of experts, and most of the news is flat-out terrible: the Half-billion dollar site needs to be rebuilt from scratch, the site has 500 million lines of computer code (it took just 500 thousand lines of code to send a rover to Mars), and the code is "riddled with security holes" that could result one of "the biggest breaches in American history[.]" Oct 23, 2013 10:20 AM PT

National Journal: 1.2 Million Uninsured Equals 'Millions'

The National Journal headline reads: "Millions of Uninsured Latinos Live in States Without Spanish Obamacare Sites." The story (and facts), however, aren't quite so dramatic: "Over 1.2 million uninsured Latinos in the United States do not have access to a Spanish-language Obamacare website." ObamaCare Debacle: American Media Misses Yet Another Scandal

Ezra Klein says he knew about the website problems but wasn't able to nail the story down. How many others in media knew? It is now obvious that a number of administration officials knew the site wasn't even close to ready for primetime. So where was the media when it came to working their sources and digging into just how ready the Department of Health and Human Services was to roll out Obama's signature piece of legislation and the federal government's biggest social program since Medicare? Shutdown Week 2: Fox Dominates, CNN Sinks to 3rd

Yet another terrible week during a Big News week for CNN. During both weeks of the government shutdown, CNN not only got the now-expected trouncing from Fox News, but MSNBC also handily beat The Least Trusted Name In News … again. Oct 22, 2013 12:37 PM PT

Infighting: Salon Rips Left-wing Media for ObamaCare Truth-Telling

Joan Walsh, of the extreme left-wing site Salon, lashed out at two fellow leftists for daring to tell the truth about the disastrous launch of ObamaCare. The obviously frustrated Walsh singled out the New Yorker's Ryan Lizza and The Washington Post's Ezra Klein for a trip to the re-education woodshed. Oct 22, 2013 11:55 AM PT

Break: New York Magazine Floats Individual Mandate Delay

When the GOP suggested President Obama delay the individual mandate for a year, the media brought out the pitch forks and torches while screaming, "Freak! Racist! Extremist! Arsonist! Anarchist!" But now that a reality is fast-approaching that could see people fined/taxed for not buying ObamaCare through websites that don't work, Jonathan Chait's New York Magazine is joining the FreakyRacistExtremist brigade by suggesting a delay of the individual mandate. Poynter Offers Media Guide to Gloss Over Millions of ObamaCare's Victims

Kliff's article is published under the Orwellian title: "How to avoid mistakes in covering the Affordable Care Act." There are five points in the article, and without saying so, Kliff's second point offers the media a primer on how to write around the fact that ObamaCare is breaking every major promise Barack Obama made to the working and middle class: I won’t raise your taxes. If you like your insurance you can keep it. After health reform is the law of the land, your premium costs will decrease. Oct 22, 2013 9:18 AM PT

'The Exorcist' 40th Anniversary Edition: Scares and a Whole Lot More

Some time ago, my wife and I went to our favorite amusement park, and thanks to either timing, weather or luck, the place was like a ghost town. So rather than waiting an hour in line to ride our favorite rollercoaster, we could walk right on. We ended up riding about twenty times, and after a while the thrill of the ride wore off. But we were able to discover other pleasures: the view, the open air… After 40 years and over a dozen viewings, the same is true for "The Exorcist" (1973). Oct 21, 2013 2:17 PM PT

AP Editor, Reporter Fired Over Erroneous McAuliffe Story

Two weeks ago the Associated Press published a false report that claimed Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe had lied to an investigator during a federal fraud case. The story was retracted less than two hours later. Monday, the AP fired Bob Lewis, the reporter behind the story, and editor Dena Potter. Oct 21, 2013 1:08 PM PT

Top Five ObamaCare Catastrophes the Media Refuse to Cover

The media are doing a good job covering the ObamaCare launch problems. And while the tech problems are real and worth covering, so are five other ObamaCare catastrophes. But the media won't cover those because to do so might further undermine the program. Oct 21, 2013 11:39 AM PT

NBC News: Hundreds of Thousands Lose Insurance Due to ObamaCare

NBC News puts the best spin on it they can, but there is no way to hide the fact that hundreds of thousands, likely millions, are now victims of President Obama's broken promise that "If you like your health insurance, you can keep it." One insurance provider in just one state (Florida) just sent out cancellation notices to 300,000 customers. Oct 21, 2013 7:06 AM PT

MSNBC: White House Is Lying About ObamaCare Enrollment Numbers

The media believe the White House is openly lying to them about not having the numbers on those who have enrolled for ObamaCare. Monday on Morning Joe, the AP's Julie Pace said that on a daily basis she is being told by the Obama administration that "we don’t have the number yet." A few sentences later, Pace reveals that she knows the administration is lying to her, "We know that they have these numbers." Oct 21, 2013 5:26 AM PT

After Weeks of Hate Speech from Media & Obama, Cruz Receives Death Threat

The only surprise is that this is the only death threat against Cruz, or at least the only one we know of. Why would someone not feel a seething hostility towards an individual the national media and our president are wishing dead, comparing to terrorists, and relentlessly demonizing as the leader of a radical, dangerous, arsonist, anarchist, racist, hostage-taking cause that will destroy America? Another Billion In Pork Exposed In Bill that Re-Opened Government

On top of handing President Obama a blank check that will explode the size of our deficit, the blank check itself (the bill that re-opened the government and increased the debt ceiling), contains billions in additional spending. Most people have already heard about the $2.9 billion Kentucky kickback and a $174,000 payment to the wealthy widow of Senator Frank Lautenberg. Fox News found another billion-plus. Daily Beast Profiles State Where ObamaCare Is Working But Not Selling

The Daily Beast profiled Connecticut, a state that built its own health care exchange and has therefore avoided the nightmare of the federal site. Writer Daniel Gross points out that having a working exchange and being a "highly Democratic, wealthy, small state [with] a relatively low rate of uninsured people, about 9 percent," makes Connecticut a "pretty good laboratory" for what ObamaCare might look like once the national exchanges are working. But the news is still not good. Oct 19, 2013 6:07 AM PT
