'Friday the 13th: The Complete Blu-ray Collection' Review: 13 Discs of Slasher Heaven

You never know how as an adult you will react to what you enjoyed as a child or teenager. After all, the "Friday the 13th" franchise was aimed right at my teenage sweet spot. The debut film was released the summer of my 14th year and its heyday lasted straight through to my high school graduation. I was the demo, and many a Saturday night was spent with friends at the dollar theatre or in front of HBO laughing at the exploits of Jason Vorhees. Sep 17, 2013 11:20 AM PT

Poll: 51% Favor Government Shutdown to Cut Health Care Costs

In a poll released Tuesday, one day after President Obama slammed Republicans for what he dishonestly described as a "government shutdown," Rasmussen has found that when it comes to cutting health care costs, a majority of 51% favor "having a partial government shutdown until Democrats and Republicans agree on what spending for the health care law to cut." MSNBC Still Airing Debunked Graphic Showing Navy Yard Shooter With AR-15

The photo above is a screen shot of MSNBC taken Tuesday at 12:08pm ET, hours after the FBI confirmed that Navy Yard shooter, Aaron Alexis, used a shotgun and two pistols during Monday's rampage that killed 12. Regardless of these facts, MSNBC continues to use a computer graphic that clearly shows the shooter with an AR-15. Sep 17, 2013 9:28 AM PT

AR-15: Anti-Gun Narrative Blows Up In Face of CNN, Daily News

Tuesday's New York Daily News cover story is nothing more than a long-form editorial that attempts to make the AR-15 (a semiautomatic sport rifle) the bad guy in Monday's horrific Navy Yard shooting. Last night, CNN attempted to do the same through blowhard Piers Morgan. But there is just one problem: CNN and The Daily News are 100% wrong. The FBI has just confirmed that a shotgun and two pistols were recovered, and that the "gunman was NOT armed with [an] AR-15." Sep 17, 2013 7:58 AM PT

Politico Wants to Pretend that 'Talk Turns to Gun Control'

In its Tuesday lead piece, the left-wing Politico attempts to "manipulate lead the conversation" with an article titled: "After Shooting, Talk Turns to Gun Control." This is wishcasting on Politico's part, not reporting; this is Politico pushing an agenda, not documenting what is actually happening; this is Politico hoping to craft a reality, not reporting on a reality. Suspected Navy Yard Shooter: Soft-Spoken Buddhist, Recently Traveled to Thailand

A profile is starting to emerge of the man law enforcement says is responsible for the mass-murder of 12 people Monday at Washington's Navy Yard. Aaron Alexis was a full-time Navy reservist between 2007 and 2011. A former roommate also says Alexis was a Buddhist who "liked to meditate" and, as a computer defense contractor, recently visited Japan and Thailand. Sep 16, 2013 2:50 PM PT

Time Magazine Shields America From Obama's Syria Failure

The Daily Caller reports that the September 16 issue of Time Magazine cover featured a photo of a satisfied-looking Vladmir Putin with the caption "Americans weak and waffling, Russia’s rich and resurgent” -- except in America. Here in the States, Time hid Putin's success and chose instead to put a sports story on the cover. Sep 16, 2013 6:04 AM PT

Baldwin to MSNBC, Washington Banished After Hurling Gay Slurs

The result of Alec Baldwin's homophobic tirade, though, was much different than what Isaiah Washington went through. Baldwin's hate speech was not only covered-up by almost all of the mainstream media, including NBC News and CNN; but just a few months later Baldwin was awarded a television show on MSNBC -- the left-leaning network that promotes itself as gay-friendly. New Redline: Syria Has Until Middle of 2014 To Turn Over Chemical Weapons

According to the New York Times, in a just-announced deal with the Russians, the United States has agreed to give Syria until the middle of 2014 to destroy or remove its chemical weapons. Should the Assad regime fail to comply, the United States has also agreed that the matter will be turned over to the United Nations Security Council, where Russia can use its veto power to ensure that no military action is taken against Syria. Diller: 'I Can't Make Promises' Daily Beast Will Publish Past October

The news that broke Thursday that founder Tina Brown is parting ways with the Daily Beast likely came as a blow to some staffers and a relief to others. But what has to be deeply unsettling to all staffers is that as of right now, Barry Diller, whose IAC owns the Daily Beast, is refusing to promise that the publication will still be publishing after October. Ousted NPR Chief Paid Half-Million In Severance, Bonuses

In a press release issued Friday, National Public Radio announced one of the largest staff cuts in its history, 10% of the organization's 840 employees will offered a voluntary buyout. The Washington Post reports that this is due to a "budding financial crisis," including a $6.1 million deficit. Due to filing laws for non-profits we also learned that a former CEO forced to resign in 2011 was paid over a half-million dollars in severance and bonuses. Sep 13, 2013 11:08 AM PT

Tina Brown Calls New York Post 'Insane' Over Charity Scrutiny

According to the New York Post's look at IRS records, although her non-profit Women in the World Foundation collected nearly $1.2 million in 2011, Tina Brown's charity only gave away $10,000 during that same year. The foundation's stated goal was to dole out $300,000. Of the $1.17 million reportedly collected, $536,868 went to pay for expenses, including a $168,000 star-studded launch party hosted by Meryl Streep. Sep 13, 2013 9:36 AM PT

Meghan McCain Loses Her Base -- The Media

When the media was terrified Governor Sarah Palin might run for president, Meghan McCain was useful. As the daughter of the man who chose Palin as his running mate in 2008, the fact that John McCain's daughter is not very bright was a small price to pay. Ms. McCain was willing to slither into the spotlight by repeatedly stabbing Palin in the back, and that was all the media wanted. Sep 13, 2013 8:50 AM PT
