MLB Opening Week: Two Favorites Fail To Show in Openers

Four teams opened their 2013 season today: the Baltimore Orioles played the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Indians battled the Toronto Blue Jays. A lot of experts have either the Rays or Blue Jays to win the AL East and possibly winning the World Series. How did they fare on Tuesday? Not well. 3 Apr 2013

2013 Opening Day: Contenders Flex Muscles After Pageantry

It does not get much better than Opening Day. The smell of fresh cut grass and leather mitts, the sound of balls off the wood bats, vendors selling cold beer and hot dogs, and kids running around wearing hats that are too big. Something just seems so right when America’s pastime comes to life. Everyone gets the chills when legendary Dodgers announcer Vin Scully says, “It’s time for Dod-ger baseball.” While one can’t judge a team’s season on one day, one can pick up on little things that may become an avalanche. Here are a few of my observations from Opening Day 2013. 1 Apr 2013

NL Central: Cubs Position Players Show Spark, Still Need Work

More than likely the Chicago Cubs will finish fifth in the NL Central; but unlike last year, that will be last place. It is only Theo Epstein’s second year and he has stressed numerous times to not expect results until 2015 or 2016. However, there are a few shining stars in the lineup. 28 Mar 2013

Rep. Grills ICE Director on Blaming Sequester for Detainee Release

Claims of low risk to noncriminals contradict Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Morton’s previous claims that ICE only detains the “’worst of the worst’ illegal immigrants in light of their inability to detain, deport, and remove all the illegal immigrants the agency encounters based on a lack of financial resources.” 20 Mar 2013

Wayne LaPierre at CPAC: Freedom Is in Jeopardy

Wayne LaPierre came out on fire at CPAC to defend our 2nd amendment rights and the importance of self-protection. “The 2nd Amendment is not just words on parchment,” said LaPierre. “It’s not some suggestion from our Founding Fathers to be interpreted by whim. Our Founding fathers knew that without the 2nd Amendment freedom, all of our freedoms could be in jeopardy.” 15 Mar 2013
