A lot of experts have either the Rays or Blue Jays to win the AL East and possibly winning the World Series. How did they fare on Tuesday? Not well. 3 Apr 2013 2013 Opening Day: Contenders Flex Muscles After Pageantry It does not get much better than Opening Day. The smell of fresh cut grass and leather mitts, the sound of balls off the wood bats, vendors selling cold beer and hot dogs, and kids running around wearing hats that are too big. Something just seems so right when America’s pastime comes to life. Everyone gets the chills when legendary Dodgers announcer Vin Scully says, “It’s time for Dod-ger baseball.” While one can’t judge a team’s season on one day, one can pick up on little things that may become an avalanche. Here are a few of my observations from Opening Day 2013. 1 Apr 2013 Power Rankings: Top Five American League Teams It is time for baseball and to rank the top five teams in the American League the first week of the season. The AL went through some major changes. The Houston Astros moved there from the NL Central, Josh Hamilton left the Texas Rangers to join division rival Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and Torii Hunter left the Angels to join AL rival Detroit Tigers. 1 Apr 2013 Power Rankings: Top Five National League Teams Let’s play ball! The 2013 Major League Baseball season officially started Sunday night with the Texas Rangers at the Houston Astros. Many at Breitbart Sports previewed individual teams, but here are the power rankings for the National League going into the season. Every Sunday I will bring you an updated list. 1 Apr 2013 Mets Pitcher Santana Out For 2013 New York Mets left-handed pitcher Johan Santana will miss the entire 2013 season due to a torn anterior capsule in his left shoulder. It will be the second surgery on the shoulder in 31 months. 30 Mar 2013 NL Central: Cubs Position Players Show Spark, Still Need Work More than likely the Chicago Cubs will finish fifth in the NL Central; but unlike last year, that will be last place. It is only Theo Epstein’s second year and he has stressed numerous times to not expect results until 2015 or 2016. Grills ICE Director on Blaming Sequester for Detainee Release Claims of low risk to noncriminals contradict Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Morton’s previous claims that ICE only detains the “’worst of the worst’ illegal immigrants in light of their inability to detain, deport, and remove all the illegal immigrants the agency encounters based on a lack of financial resources.” 20 Mar 2013 Wayne LaPierre at CPAC: Freedom Is in Jeopardy Wayne LaPierre came out on fire at CPAC to defend our 2nd amendment rights and the importance of self-protection. “The 2nd Amendment is not just words on parchment,” said LaPierre. “It’s not some suggestion from our Founding Fathers to be interpreted by whim. Our Founding fathers knew that without the 2nd Amendment freedom, all of our freedoms could be in jeopardy.” 15 Mar 2013 NHL Realignment Approved It is official. The NHL Board of Governors approved the realignment, which will go into place next season. The NHL and NHLPA agreed to a two-conference, four-division format.
