But this election has a small catch, a 23 year-old “progressive republican” candidate, Arthur Kohl-Riggs, is on the ballot challenging Scott Walker on the republican ticket 8 May 2012 Van Jones: Don't Ever Let Somebody Like Me in the White House This past Saturday, May 5, former White House "green jobs" czar Van Jones spoke to Chicagoans attending the Green Festival. In the course of discussing the need for a greener economy, and claiming that opponents of big government and the EPA want babies to die in order to create jobs, Jones addressed his time spent in the Obama White House: "I am in a special category of one. But as I was going through footage of the Haymarket Riot Reenactment in Chicago that I covered earlier that day, news broke of a big announcement coming from the White House and nobody knew what it was. About 15 minutes later, hundreds of college kids were chanting “USA, USA,” outside the White House, celebrating the death of Osama Bin Laden. 3 May 2012 May Day Protestors Cannot Explain Their Signs or Their Cause Yesterday at Chicago’s Union Park for the May Day march, I found group of protesters from the Asociación de Vendedores Ambulantes (Street Vendors Association) holding signs from the Chicago Community and Workers’ Rights. I asked one protester what her sign meant, and she said, “I don’t know.” 2 May 2012 Teamsters President Cool With Communists As May Day marches and protests have kicked off around the country today, they also had a large turnout in Chicago.
