Dr. Phil: Te'o hoaxer 'deeply, romantically in love' with Te'o

So, Dr. Phil is now doing what Dr. Phil does best: injecting maudlin romance into a pathetic and degraded story. According to Dr. Phil, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man who pretended to be a woman in order to seduce Notre Dame star Manti Te’o online, then hoaxed Te’o into claiming that this fake girlfriend had died of leukemia, was “deeply, romantically in love” with Te’o. Said Dr. Phil: “I asked him straight up, ‘Was this a romantic relationship with you?’ And he says yes. I said, ‘Are you then therefore gay?’ And he said, ‘When you put it that way, yes.’ And then he caught himself and said, ‘I am confused.’”

The attempt to grant airtime to a pathetic specimen of humanity has become knee-jerk with the media. Tuiasosopo is a twisted individual no matter how you slice it. Had Te’o been a female and had Tuaisosopo masqueraded as a male and pursued the same shtick, there is little doubt that the media would label Tuaisosopo a predator. But in true Jim McGreevey fashion, claiming you’re gay rights all wrongs and makes you a victim rather than a perpetrator.
