Medio Bistro: CNN Axes Soledad O'Brien Because Her Audience Was "Too Ethnic?"
Share This:
This is CNN:
"Many staffers were stunned when Feder constantly complained that the
viewership of “Early Start” and “Starting Point” was “too ethnic,” based
on the high concentration of minority viewers. This common complaint
worked itself up through the company, to CNN’s Diversity Committee, and
to other staffers, who were mortified that a CNN executive was
squabbling over attracting minority viewers."
The Diversity Committee was mortified by that? Let me tell you something, I'm mortified by that, and I'm actually a racist.* One of my (numerous) KKK Kleagle friends just emailed me:
"They fired her for attracting too many minority viewers? And I thought Norman Lear changed television!!!! What the hell kind of retrograde backward-ass outfit is CNN running over there?! I haven't seen this kind of outright racist thuggery since last night, 'round about 7:30, down by the Gatherin' Bole at Skeeter's Haller."
If you ever wonder how in the hell Piers Morgan manages to stay on with his dollar-store ratings, well: Not too ethnic, if you know what I mean.
My Kleagle friend pronounces the whole situation "a shonda." He's quite inconsolable.
I'm beginning to develop a sneaking suspicion that our Media Betters might not quite believe all the things they preach.
