Rand Paul Only 22 Hours Short of Filibuster Record

Republican Senator Rand Paul started his old-fashioned filibuster at 11:47 am ET.

He just hit the two-hour mark, which means he's only 22 hours and 18 minutes away from breaking the all-time filibuster record set by a Democrat in 1957 protesting civil rights legislation. The Democrat was Strom Thurmond, who later became a Republican.
