I love long-form journalism. Yet it rarely gets traffic.
I agree that conservatives should do more long-form journalism. I've done a few pieces in that vein. The problem is that long, single pieces do not drive traffic because even the most interested readers rarely have time to read them. So our approach to big issues has often been to cover them in several small pieces. There's also a premium on news rather than opinion, because everyone has an opinion or two but few have new facts.
Likewise with video. Shorter clips are more likely to get views than long documentaries. There's an audience for the longer stuff but it has to be done extremely well to hold viewers' attention. Just economic reality.
