Ruslan Tsarni Expresses Grief for Victims, Calls Nephews 'Losers'

After the phone interview this morning (listen here) Ruslan Tsarni gave what amounted to an outdoor press conference for media outlets.

"First, the only purpose here is just to deliver our condolences," he said, adding "I never ever imagined that somehow the children of my brother would be associated with that."

According to Ruslan, he last had contact with the boys in December 2005 and did not think they had any hostility toward America at that time. Asked what might have provoked the bombing, Ruslan hesitated and then offered "Being losers. Hatred toward those who were able to settle themselves. These are the only reasons I can imagine. Anything else, anything to do with religion is a fraud, is a fake."

Asked by another reporter if the boys "got radicalized" Ruslan replied "Somebody radicalized them but it's not my brother who just moved back to Russia...who spent his life bringing bread to their table fixing cars."
