Obama’s Regal Moment of Silence Photo-Op

When it was announced, last week, that the president would observe “a moment of silence” for the victims of the Boston Bombings, but the press would be barred from covering it, many of us wondered, “what could possibly be the point of announcing this, then?”

Via Keith Koffler of WHD, who quipped that the symbolism being attempted, here, “has a regal sense to it.”

Other than that the White House decided it wanted Americans to view Obama’s concern for the victims, it’s unclear why the event was staged or what value it had to the public.

Apparently he wanted to send a message to the American public that he cares. Why he felt that was necessary is anyone’s guess.
