Congressmen Harris & Wolf Call on Attorney General Holder to Come Clean on Perez
On April 18, during a hearing before the Appropriations Subcommittee Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies, Attorney General Eric Holder testified under oath that Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez had complied with the House Oversight subpoena of all personal emails relating to his conduct as Assistant Attorney General. The House has since learned that only 34 of the nearly 1200 emails had been turned over so the subpoena has not been fulfilled.
Here's the video of Congressman Andy Harris grilling Holder, last month about the emails.
Harris and and Chairman of the CJS Subcommittee Frank Wolf wrote a letter to Holder asking for clarification of his testimony. The question is, how could the Attorney General have testified that Perez was in compliance when only 34 out of 1200 emails had been turned over?
With the vote on Perez's nomination for Secretary of Labor scheduled before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Wednesday, Harris is wondering why Perez hasn't turned over the emails. Does he have something to hide?
