In an interview with NBC’s Pete Williams, Wednesday, embattled Attorney General Eric Holder continued his efforts to rehabilitate himself and get back into the media’s good graces. Holder told Williams, “there are some things that I want to do; some things I want to get done that I’ve discussed with the president, and once I have finished that, I’ll sit down with him, and we’ll determine when it’s time to make a transition to a new attorney general.”
Asked if he would step down following calls from the GOP that he do so in the wake of the AP/Rosen wiretapping scandals, he answered curtly, “no, I have no intention of doing so now.”
It’s no secret that this attorney general has nothing but contempt for the very lawmakers who formally held him in contempt of Congress.
Last February, when asked about being held in contempt of Congress, he shrugged it off, telling ABC News’ Pierre Thomas that it was “unfortunate”, and “a result of this kind of partisan sport that I think we engage in here in Washington far too often.”
Holder said the votes it didn’t bother him, considering who cast them.“But I have to tell you that for me to really be affected by what happened, I’d have to have respect for the people who voted in that way,” Holder told ABC News. “And I didn’t, so it didn’t have that huge an impact on me.”
