Note to Rubio, Ayotte: Obama Is Not Your Friend
As Christian Toto noted recently, President Barack Obama has a funny way of rewarding Republicans who cross the aisle to work together with Democrats on his agenda: he campaigns against them.
Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) announced Sunday that she will support Obama's preferred immigration legislation, the "Gang of Eight" bill making its way through the Senate, co-sponsored by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL).
The next day, Obama's lobby group, Organizing for Action, declared that both Ayotte and Rubio were on its list of "climate deniers," and began targeting both of them: "Call these deniers out. Hold them accountable."
Here, by the way, is the 100% scientifically defensible statement that caused Ayotte to be added to the list:
Asked if she believed in climate change, she said, “there is scientific evidence that demonstrates there is some impact from human activities. However I don’t think the evidence is conclusive.”
Not only is Obama anti-science; he's anti-compromise. This is why compromises are rare in Washington today. And, given Obama's hyper-partisan, para-parliamentary assaults, perhaps compromises ought to be rare.
