Cops: 6-Year-Old Pulls Knife On Playmate, Steals IPod
PITTSBURGH- According to Pittsburgh police, a 6-year-old drew a knife on another 6-year-old at a Northview Heights playground and stole the child's iPod nano. The robbery allegedly occurred on July 9 when police say the child suspect pulled out the blade on a Swiss Army Knife and asked another child to give up his iPod, while other young kids played nearby.
Investigators said the victim relinquished the iPod out of fear and then went home and told his parents, who then called police.
“If that young man would have refused, we don't know if that 6-year-old would have threatened him or cut him to get the iPod from him,” said Lt. Shirley Sloan.
The victim was not hurt in the exchange and no charges will be filed. According to officers, the 6-year-old who pulled the knife was disciplined by his mother.
In what can only be described as a sad sign of the times, Lt. Sloan said she is “letting them [officers] know not to put your guard down when you're approached and 6-year-olds are involved, that you know to keep an eye on them and be more alert.”
