Seattle Thrift Store Finds Pounds of Marijuana in Donation Bin

SEATTLE – The Seattle Police Department released a lighthearted press release on Friday to remind folks that second hand stores can not resell marijuana after a 2.5 pound bag of weed was found in the donation bin of a Northern Seattle thrift store.

In the release, police say “Donating to thrift shops is a terrific way to give a second life to your well-loved Velcro sneakers, keyboards or flannel zebra jammies,” but they say tires, soiled mattresses, laptops and bags of weed are not welcome.

The use of recreational marijuana is legal in Washington but this particular batch was confiscated by police and put into evidence for destruction.
