SNAP: Man Pleads Guilty To Shooting Golfer Who Broke His Window With Errant Shot

RENO - It all went down at the 16th hole at Lakeridge Golf Course in Reno in September of last year. No indication whether the golfer sliced or hooked, but his ball sailed off course and shattered a window at the nearby home of 53-year-old Jeff Fleming. Fleming subsequently grabbed a shotgun, ran onto the golf course where he found the rusty golfer and fired a single round.

The golfer was reportedly taking his drop and penalty shot at the time when he was struck in one arm and both legs from the shotgun blast. He was treated for his wounds at a nearby hospital.

“Live on a golf course and you got to expect your house to get hit every once in a while,” Deputy District Atty. Sean Neahusan told the Associated Press. “This [shooting] is one of those stories that you just can’t make it up.”

Fleming subsequently drove to his lawyer's officer and surrendered to authorities after incident.

He pleaded guilty to battery with a deadly weapon and is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 12. He faces 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The golfer apparently drilled his mulligan.
