Supernatural Star Jared Padalecki Blasts Jay-Z
The star of CW's hugely successful Supernatural show, Jared Padalecki, called out Jay-Z on Twitter Saturday afternoon, Tweeting:
Hey @JayZ, society needs u to stand up to racism more than u need another million. U have enough money, try having some principles
In less than a half hour, the Tweet has over 1,000 RT's and nearly 2,000 Favorites.
Recently, disturbing allegations against Barney's surfaced, claiming the posh New York City store mistreated and wrongly detained African-American clientele, leading to calls for a boycott.
But despite calls for solidarity, hip hop superstar Jay-Z announced on Friday that he will not back out of his planned collaboration with the store and the launch of his holiday collection is moving forward. Jay-Z notes he will, however, now be involved in the store's review of its policies.
Directly from Jay-Z's website:
As I previously stated, the collaboration with Barneys has always been about giving and The Shawn Carter Foundation. From this collection, the Foundation will receive not only 25% of sales, it will now receive the additional 75% of Barneys’ sales, totalling 100% of all sales from BNY SCC. Along with 100% of sales from the collaboration, the Foundation will receive an additional 10% of all retail sales from Barneys New York stores nationwide and Barneys.com on November 20th.
So, proceeds going to Jay-Z's own foundation.
This is not the first time Jay-Z has ignored calls to express solidarity with those in need. Recently, calls for the superstar to acknowledge and support the plight of Cuban artist "El Critico" (Angel Yunier Remon), currently on a hunger strike after being jailed simply for rapping, also went ignored by the mega-millionaire.
Padalecki is right. Have some principles, Jigga Man. Have some principles.
