A passenger aboard the train told Gothamist, “I was inside the first car of an R train that struck someone at 53rd Street this morning. The conductor said that she jumped right in front of him… There were at least 3 firetrucks, two police cars and one ambulance when I left the station. It was a terrible scene, people were very upset.”

The incident occurred at the 53rd St. Station along the R line in Sunset Park at about 9:15 a.m. The teen was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center and listed in stable condition. She is expected to recover from her injuries.
