Teacher Suspended After Allegedly Locking 5-Year-Old In Closet, Then Leaving School

MEMPHIS – A teacher at A.B. Hill Elementary School in Memphis has been suspended after she allegedly locked a 5-year-old girl in a closet and then went home sick, leaving the child in the closet. The Memphis Police Department is not releasing their report on the incident. 

What is known at this point is that school administrators contacted police to report that the child was locked in a closet. Investigators determined that the teacher was responsible for locking up the child, who was found unharmed. 

Shelby County Schools officials said the teacher was suspended and police, along with the Department of Children’s Services are investigating the incident. The teacher’s name was not disclosed.
