Media Suddenly Obsessed with Duck Dynasty's Ratings

Since Duck Dynasty premiered a few weeks ago the media seems to be obsessed with whether they’ve kept up their high ratings from the previous season.  From NY Daily News:

Wednesday night’s episode of A&E’s hit reality series drew 6.65 million watchers, a noticeable dip from last week’s Season 5 premiere, which notched 8.5 million viewers, according to Nielsen.

The drop comes less than a month after family patriarch Phil Robertson’s comments on homosexuality landed him a suspension by the network and sparked a huge controversy that had gay rights advocates vowing to boycott the show.

It’s the show’s lowest ratings since the second-season finale in December 2012, Variety reported.

The show also dropped from last week’s 3.3 rating in the key 18-49 demographic to a 2.9 Wednesday.

Of course there’s radio silence when it comes to ratings on MSNBC, NBC and other networks.  I can’t imagine the wrath that would come from the snooty media writers if conservatives started disparaging the ratings for The Michael J. Fox Show.  You’ll notice hardly any of the stories about Duck Dynasty‘s ratings include comparisons from other network shows at the same time.
