Rep. Charlie Rangel (D – NY) discussed with Breitbart News on Wednesday his thoughts on what he thought about the Republican Party and grassroots conservatives like the tea party. :
“…but in all of my public life I’ve never seen a small group of people so determined to stop this president and people ask, ‘Do you think there’s racial overtones? And I just go back in history and think of Lincoln was killed. The Confederate flag was flown. Blacks were denied the opportunity to vote, but that Confederate flag went to Democrats and now its gone to Republicans. Now I see it with the high growth of the tea party and their demonstrations. If you were to ask where we have the most difficulty in given access to the votes, it’s the same place where I marched from Selma to Birmingham, Alabama.”
