Westboro Baptist Church Faces Surprising Counter-Protest (Video)

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church haven’t changed their hateful ways just because their hateful ringleader passed away. According to KSHB, more than 20 members staged a demonstration to protest the pop star, Lorde, who was appearing at the Midland theater in Downtown Kansas City, Friday evening.

The Westboro folks held up their usual hateful signs, but they faced a counter-protest they surely didn’t expect.

Those counter demonstrators held up a sign that read “sorry for your loss.” Another sign read, “live your life and be awesome.”
Megan Coleman, who helped make the sign, said, “we realized that it wasn’t so much about antagonizing them,” she said, “but sending out the counter message that we are here for people who need that message and need that positivity.”

Steve Drain a longtime Westboro member was gobsmacked.

“I don’t even know what they’re saying,” he told the KSHB’s Brendaliss Gonzalez.
