Why 'No Drama Obama' Avoids Difficult Matters

Obama has a lot of yucky vegetables on his big boy plate, these days. But being president, he doesn’t have to eat them. He can skip all the gross stuff and go right for the ice cream.

During the Green Revolution in Iran five years ago, “No Drama Obama”did just that.  The Islamic Republic was at a tipping point in the summer of 2009. With just a little encouragement from the US, regime change was possible. That would have been great for the Iranian people and made the world a safer place.

But while the world looked to America for leadership –  America’s leader went out for ice cream.

After Army psychologist Nidal Hasan’s deadly shooting rampage at Ft. Hood, Texas, in November of 2009, and while the U.S. military and law enforcement were still scrambling to save lives, “No Drama Obama” opened his remarks at the Tribal Nations Conference with a cheery two-minute “shout out” to audience members in attendance.

On September 11, 2012, after Obama said “al Qaeda is on the run,” al Qaeda-linked terrorists attacked two American compounds in Benghazi, Libya, killing U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith, CIA contractors, Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty. Ten others were injured. Stevens was the first U.S. Ambassador killed on duty since 1979.

The next day, “No Drama Obama” blamed the attack on an anti-Mohammed video in a Rose Garden speech, and then flew to a fundraiser in Las Vegas.

Now, the whole Middle East is collapsing into chaos. ISIS has taken over large swaths of Iraq, Israel is invading Gaza, Syria is a basket case, Iran is going to have nukes any day now, and Christian genocide is the order of the day.

Obama played his 24th game of golf of the year and the 181st time of his presidency at the upscale TPC Potomac Golf Club in Montgomery County, Maryland, last weekend.

The myriad of scandals swirling around the Obama regime, refuse to dissipate. The the IRS, EPA, FEC, VA, DOJ, and State Dept are all embroiled in scandals. We’re seeing multi-agency computer crashes now. It’s like subpoenas are the leading cause of computer crashes and destroyed files. And two federal judges are not amused.

No Drama Obama played pool with the governor of Colorado, last week – and he made sure the press pool knew who won.

Wave after wave of Central American migrants are illegally crossing the border with the expectation that they’ll be able to stay. Immigration is now considered the #1 problem in America and the American people overwhelmingly think they should be sent home. As in right now. But the Obama administration is busing them into their communities.

Instead of visiting the border when he was in Texas, Obama gave some speeches, met with amnesty supporters (and Governor Perry at his request) and did a cool fist bump with the gay cashier of a popular BBQ joint in Austin.

When Franklin Barbecue cashier Daniel Rugg Webb saw his chance to speak to the president Thursday, he exclaimed: ‘Equal rights for gay people!’ Obama then asked, ‘Are you gay.’ ‘Only when I’m having sex,’ answered the part-time comedian, which made the president laugh before he realized children were around. …

Today, Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over the Ukraine, reportedly by a  ground-to-air missile, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew members. 23 Americans are believed to have been on the plane.

Before departing Delaware for two fundraisers in New York City, Obama managed to squeeze in a few words about the tragedy.

“Looks like it may be a terrible tragedy,” he said perceptively. He added that his administration is “working to determine whether there were American citizens on board, that is our first priority.”

He offered “thoughts and prayers for all the families of the passengers on the plane” and  continued ” I wanna thank Jeremy for that introduction. Give Jeremy a big round of applause….It’s great to be in the state that gave us Joe Biden!”

In January of this year, Republican strategist Ed Rogers wrote in the Washington Post:

“A blasé, no-drama attitude, boredom, a lack of conviction and an absence of passion can all be seen as factors contributing to Obamacare’s failure, a bewilderingly weak foreign policy, and a piecemeal, eleventh-hour approach to dealing with Congress on domestic issues, including the budget and our national debt. Obama is a bystander president who shrugs as events unfold and yawns as our problems get worse. As I have said in the past, I believe that for Obama, being president is all about having the job, not doing the job.”

I think it’s a little worse than that. I think his failures are by design and so is his studied disinterest in what is going on.

Ace thinks it’s one of these two things –

…this is either due to Obama’s determination to manipulate the public into not noticing that alarming things are afoot, or his need to personally avoid difficult matters because he Just. Can’t. Cope. Any. Longer.

I pray to God that it’s the first one.

It’s the first one – but I’d rather it was the second one. The first one suggests a dark and terrible agenda is being played out. The second one only means the hapless president’s close to a nervous breakdown.

Fundamental transformation can be scary for us lesser evolved humans. The “No Drama Obama” stuff is designed to lull Americans into a false state of perpetual normalcy bias.

Nothing bad can happen to us. Nothing bad will ever happen to us. America will always be land of the free and the home of the brave….
