AZCentral Drops Partisan Push Poll in Wake of GOP Gubernatorial Primary

Azcentral.com bills itself as “the oldest and most-visited local site in Arizona, bringing together the state’s largest newspaper, The Arizona Republic; its most-watched television station, KPNX-TV Channel 12; and the Valley’s leading Spanish-language publication, La Voz.”

Consequently, it seems more than curious that it would mislabel what appears to be a Democrat-driven push poll claiming that the race for Arizona’s governorship is tied on the same night State treasurer and former CEO Doug Ducey won the GOP primary going away to face off against Democrat Fred DuVal.

Azcentral reporter Yvonne Wingett Sanchez wrote that the PPP poll “of 588 likely voters was conducted between Aug. 24 and Aug. 25 on behalf of Progress Now Arizona. While Progress Now Arizona has a Facebook page, it’s website barely opens, contains little to no information, and worst of all, PPP admits that the poll was actually commissioned by the Democratic Governors Association.

PPP interviewed 588 likely voters on August 24th and 25th on behalf of the Democratic
Governors Association. The survey’s margin of error is +/-4.0%

Consequently, it appears that a website claiming to bring together Arizona’s “largest newspaper, The Arizona Republic; its most-watched television station, KPNX-TV Channel 12; and the Valley’s leading Spanish-language publication, La Voz” has absolutely no problem misleading its readers on behalf of the Democratic Governor’s Association.

At the very least, they should have labeled the poll accurately. Progress Now Arizona isn’t even mentioned in the actual PPP poll the article cites.
