Cornernomics: Capitalism of the Block

Jan 14, 2013 4:42 AM PT

I strongly stand behind the notion that young black boys and girls drop out of high school because they know what they are learning won't help them survive in the American system.  In school, they are being taught to depend and rely on the American government to meet their needs but living in a household where there is no father and the mother is on welfare doesn't provide the kind of security they desire.  So, they run towards Capitalism, they run towards the street.

In Cornernomics, they find a purpose and a way to survive.  They become the CEO's of the block.

Time for a Godwin's Law codicil concerning slavery?

Jan 13, 2013 12:03 PM PT
I had a chance to see "Django Unchained," and now that it's up for an Oscar, it has received a certain degree of official validation as a cultural artifact.  Having read some efforts by the creators of this violent fantasy to portray it as relevant to current politics and culture, I found myself wondering if it might be time for a Godwin's Law extension to cover slavery.  I also noticed that nobody behind "Django Unchained" seems interested in discussing the truly timeless issue raised in the movie, concerning the relationship between firearms and freedom...

I'll defend Shawty Lo

Jan 10, 2013 11:26 PM PT

To make a long story short, the Oxygen Network has a new one hour special in the works, "All My Babies Mamas."   Seriously, I can't make this stuff up.

It follows Atlanta's "Laffy Taffy" rapper Shawty Lo and his 11 children by 10 different babies mamas.  Now, the "free love" Progressives have their panties in a bunch arguing  Shawty Lo and his untraditional family are a misrepresentation of African-American parents and children.

The campaign ad Mitt Romney should have run

Jan 10, 2013 11:16 PM PT

Imagine this as a campaign ad:

Romney drives through a worn down, financially destroyed Detroit.  He's driving his all black Maybach with Ann sitting in the passenger seat.  He sees a group of young, black youth standing on the corner.  He pulls up, shows the hardware in his side holster (and secret service rolling behind him), and starts a conversation...

I wish my daughters' teacher would stomp US Flag

Jan 10, 2013 10:57 PM PT

There are a couple of things in this world that I don't play about and one of them is my daughter.  When I heard about Scott Compton stomping on the American Flag to teach his students America is more then 50 stars and 13 stripes, I instantly thought about my daughter. If her teacher ever.....

So today my daughter comes home and tells me her class is starting to learn about Ancient Rome.  We've had discussions about many ancient civilizations and the cause of their downfall and compared them to what's happening in America today.  Ancient Rome was discussed thouroughly.

The 411 on Sexy Conservatism

Jan 10, 2013 10:43 PM PT

If given the choice to hang out with your parents or your cooler older cousin most people will pick the cooler older cousin.  The cooler older cousin gets to dress like a vagina, complain over not getting free birth control, and not bear the burden of their mistakes with Abortion on demand.  And this is sexy????

The parents have to teach taking responsibility for your actions, justify saying no to destructive behavior, and champion values and morals.  Yeah, not exactly sexy and if 2012 taught us anything, it's that sexy sells.
