Media Bias: Media Bias of all kinds.

Media that Ushered in the Affirmative Action President Now Shocked by the Affirmative Action Economy

Jan 30, 2013 6:13 PM PT

The United States economy contracted in the forth quarter of 2012. Most analysts had higher expectations. Me, not so much. I'm smart enough to know that our president is the guy who was willing to be reduced to his race in order to win an election. Yes. President Obama's skin color was the only reason he was elected in 2008. The man has no actual experience or affection for free markets. So, this morning when I read the New York Times' headline "Economy Contracted Unexpectedly in the forth Quarter," I laughed my ass off.

America's debt to GDP is racing toward 200 percent. And as Obamacare becomes a reality, companies are downsizing to cope with the coming avalanche of regulations. Unfortunately, the bad economic news we got today is the new normal. Just don't expect the Self-Congratulating Moral Elitists in the mainstream press to realize, or report it.

Beltway Media Drones Accept Menendez' Evasions

Jan 30, 2013 2:38 PM PT

When Breitbart News' Kerry Picket asked Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) about the reported FBI investigation into allegations that the senator used a house of prostitution populated with underage girls in the Dominican Republic his response was that he "wasn't going to dignify that story" with a response.

That indignant evasion hasn't stopped Picket, Matthew Boyle and other NEW media outlets from pursuing the story, but it seems to be sufficient to force mainstream journalists from the networks and beltway political rags into a fetal position. It's a good thing the Capitol rotunda is in the form of a circle or else you'd see the gaggle of reporters with NBC News credential cowering in a corner there.

Critical Ratings Theory

In response to Medio Bistro: CNN Axes Soledad O'Brien Because Her Audience Was "Too Ethnic?":

Savor the rich, creamy irony of someone who needed "critical race theory" explained to her, by panicked staff members reading Wikipedia entries into her earpiece, getting the boot because her show is "too ethnic."  As it turns out, Soledad's inability to understand Critical Ratings Theory proved more harmful to her career.

Medio Bistro: CNN Axes Soledad O'Brien Because Her Audience Was "Too Ethnic?"

Jan 30, 2013 12:12 PM PT
This is CNN:

"Many staffers were stunned when Feder constantly complained that the viewership of “Early Start” and “Starting Point” was “too ethnic,” based on the high concentration of minority viewers. This common complaint worked itself up through the company, to CNN’s Diversity Committee, and to other staffers, who were mortified that a CNN executive was squabbling over attracting minority viewers."

RE: Media Bias

In response to Editing history:

John Hayward asks:

How many of these phony lefty legends become "conventional wisdom" through force of repetition, long after we right-wing killjoys debunk them?  How many low-information voters still think Mitt Romney cheated on his taxes, or Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from her house?

The asymmetrical mythology battlefield

Jan 30, 2013 9:41 AM PT

In response to Re: Editing History:

One of the big disadvantages conservatives face is that we still don't get to conduct that kind of "prosecution," even when we've got the facts on our side.  We've made huge strides in the realm of influencing media narrative, since the Rathergate days... but sometimes I think the mainstream media has been working to inoculate itself against further Rathergates, with some success.  The Left can push a phony story faster and further than the Right can push a true one.

Ruling-class arrogance still has its limits

In response to Politico's Glenn Thrush Confirms Bloomberg is Elitist Douche:

Watching the encounter between Jason Mattera and Michael Bloomberg, it struck me that after all this time, gun controllers with armed security still don't have a good answer to "Why won't you disarm your bodyguards?"  As you noted, this is a question that inquisitive reporters should ask constantly.  Was there a single gun-control advocate at Dianne Feinstein's gun show, or will there be one at today's Senate hearings, who doesn't have an armed security detail?  Are their guards limited to single-action weapons with tiny magazines?

Re: Editing History

There's an old bit of cynical wisdom that any prosecutor can convict a guilty man; only an outstanding prosecutor can convict an innocent one.

Regarding the egregious Lawrence O'Donnell, who went on TV with a promoted spot to claim that you shouldn't believe your lying eyes:  What's a bit sobering is the fact that O'Donnell will be rewarded for his behavior.

When it comes to hateful hyperpartisans-- look, anyone can tell you the truth.  The truth is easy.  An honest man spends no time figuring out which lies he's told which people.
