Does Piers Morgan Know Something Atlanta's Police Chief Does Not?

Feb 1, 2013 1:49 PM PT

Follow up to what I posted earlier about the school shooting yesterday in Atlanta. Apparently, gun control advocate Piers Morgan thinks what happened yesterday (an armed cop disarmed the shooter with only one person hurt) is evidence that armed cops do not prevent school shootings. He tweeted "REVEALED: Armed guard was NOT able to stop Atlanta school shooting - "

The link Piers provided goes to a story titled "Armed guard disarmed teen in Atlanta school shooting, police chief says." Is he suggesting the officer failed because he didn't stop the shooting before a single shot was fired? Isn't that moving the goal posts quite a bit? No one suggested putting psychic cops in schools just cops.

Phony Phenoms: HBO's 'Girls' Is the New '30 Rock'

Feb 1, 2013 11:56 AM PT

Now that the laughably low-rated "30 Rock" has finally ended its seven season affirmative-action-for-elite-wealthy-liberals run on NBC, it looks as though HBO's "Girls" will replace it as the next artificially manufactured national phenom no one likes or watches except for elite, wealthy liberals who infest the media.

Colbert and Stewart also fit in there somewhere.

Today's Edition of Stuff NBC's Chuck Todd Will Never Say....

Feb 1, 2013 8:13 AM PT

If you watched "The Daily Rundown,'" today, you heard NBC's Chief White House correspondent blame our economic woes on "austerity"; the collapse of our GDP on a decrease in government spending (specifically defense) -- even though federal spending increased last quarter, the increase in unemployment on fewer government jobs, and the collapse in consumer confidence on gridlock -- which is a partisan dog-whistle for "Republican."

Questions objective journalist Chuck Todd will never ask…

Commies Hack Commie Hacks

Talk about carrying your coals to Newcastle: in what may be the greatest waste of espionage assets in human history, computer spies from the People's Republic of China have infiltrated the New York Times.

What were these inscrutable visitors from the Orient hoping to find behind the Times' Great Firewall? Paul Krugman's secret Keynesian multiplier formulas and cat-breeding tips? Maureen Dowd's private cache of 1983 pop culture references? Will Shortz's collection of 4-letter shore birds?

Sandy Hook Parent Says More Gun Laws Are Not the Answer

Jan 31, 2013 4:29 PM PT

Neil Heslin is the parent of a child killed at Sandy Hook elementary school. His call for additional gun control laws--made during a Connecticut hearing on gun violence prevention--received lots of attention after some news outlets claimed he'd been heckled.

Heslin was never heckled. He also wasn't the only parent who testified this Monday. Mark Mattioli, whose six year old son James was killed in the shooting, offered a very different perspective on gun laws.

"I don't think the gun laws are protecting the people. What have those gun laws done to make Chicago a safer city? I want responsible legislation. It needs to be simple and it needs to be enforced.

"We need much stricter enforcement. I believe in a few simple gun laws. I think we have more than enough on the books. We should hold people individually accountable for their actions."

WaPo Fact-Check: 'Verdict Pending' on Obama Skeet Shooting Claim

Jan 31, 2013 4:10 PM PT

The Washington Post Fact-Checker, Glenn Kessler reported that 'a number of readers have raised questions about the president’s statement that he goes skeet shooting “all the time.”' So he thought some fact checking might be in order.

He actually did a pretty thorough investigation of the last four years: "We searched high and low through hundreds of news reports to see if there was ever any other mention of Obama engaged in skeet shooting."

Can a City Like Chicago be Saved?

Jan 31, 2013 1:45 PM PT

In response to What Does A Community Organizer Organize....?: Chicago is under siege. Homicide constantly stalks the inner city, and there is seemingly little public outcry.

I've abandoned all hope that the electorate that voted for Rahm Emanuel, would one day wake up, see the carnage all around them and elect a sort of Rudy Giuliani, who, by all accounts saved New York City in the 90's from the same destructive pathologies.
