In response to The New Republic Settles for What's Safe, Avoids Real Controversy:

What great timing for The New Republic to push out its "Party of White People" issue just as grassroots Republicans across the nation are asking Dr. Benjamin Carson to run for President.

Ace summed up the painful hypocrisy found on the front cover of the latest issue of the The New Republic (TNR). The Left of center (I'm feeling generous, today) magazine whose staff has historically been all-white-all-the-time, found it necessary to run a lengthy story entitled, The Republicans, The Party of White People. 

Much like most of the news media, TNR is out of touch with working class Americans. People are losing purchasing power. Our government's incessant spending is slamming up against the concrete laws of economics and more Americans are suffering as a result. But to the editors at TNR, Hollywood's lack of gay sex scenes, the GOP's race problem and amnesty are all far more important stories.

Shortly after one of the worst snowstorms in history (I know, I know, it's "climate change" now, not "global warming"), the mainstream media is obsessing over the question of whether President Barack Obama will mention climate change in his State of the Union speech on Tuesday. It's Politico's lead story, for example.

Hey, our economy just contracted and unemployment went up and debt ceiling sequester Benghazi spending Syria etc.--but let's talk about climate change. Because... because it flatters our liberal self-regard, that's why.

There's a clever loaves and fishes trick going on with today's major anti-GOP narrative. It begins with a sequester story Politico published last night. The story opens with the splashy claim, "Republicans open to letting billions in sequester cuts go through figure they can blame the president if the economy goes south."

Notice they don't say how many Republicans are thinking this way. And after a long recounting of a DCCC press release we finally get to some Republicans who argue something quite different:

“Too often, some in Washington underestimate the knowledge base of the voters,” Oregon Rep. Greg Walden, the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, told POLITICO. “And from a Republican perspective, it’s a base that believes much more needs to be done to reduce the size and scope of the federal government because we can’t continue to borrow 43 cents on the dollar and survive.”
