Blacks brought to America as slaves against their will does not equate to illegal aliens who came here of their own will (minors brought here by their parents fall into this category).

Rep. Steve Horsford (D-NV 4) makes the ridiculous argument. What's worse, his statement, or the fact that there are empty seats all around him? Where are our representatives who should be doing the people's business?

New Jersey governor Chris Christie showed up on Letterman last night, and had people rolling in the aisles with fat jokes, including a hilarious gag with a donut.  

He's dead to some conservatives because of his eleventh-hour embrace of Obama following Hurricane Sandy, and there have been more than a few grumbles about his lackluster Republican National Convention appearance - which he claimed to have been working on feverishly right up until the hour of his appearance, but which was curiously light on negative references to Barack Obama, or even positive mention of Mitt Romney.  We all know Christie is much too politically savvy to have any illusions about the devastating political effect of Romney's top surrogate filling the airwaves with tearful praise of Obama's magnificent leadership just a few days before the election.  There's not much question he was abandoning ship; the only real question is how much he was ever on board.

Yet another example of Trial By Media - and, for anyone who remembers the pump panic of the Bush years, an amazing example of it.  I still fondly recall the doomsday montages of gas pump prices rocketing upward, mixed with images of worried soccer moms looking anxiously at the kids romping through the back of their SUVs while they went broke filling the tanks.  But now we get media stories about how expensive gas is awesome, because it protects the environment, and those portly "fun-employed" jobless soccer moms might just lose a few inches off their thighs by using a bicycle to pick up their benefit checks!

It's bad enough Politico's Dylan Byers is a palace guard for Obama's media palace guards, but it's his reading comprehension that's most bothersome. On the same day we publish a scoop on the Menendez scandal, Beyers mocks us for, uhm, not getting scoops.

Maybe what Byers really means is "scoops that don't damage Democrats."
