A fine rant from Senator Paul

Feb 7, 2013 6:41 AM PT

In response to Flush Twice, It's a Long Way to the Department of Energy:

I'm also doing what I can to spread the love for this tirade from Sen. Paul, because this is exactly what we needed against Obama in 2016.  This is the stuff that gets to average folks.  It demolishes the silly notion that Obama's vast, impersonal, overweening government somehow "understands" how "working Americans" live, and the "he really understands me" factor was a major reason Obama got to skate by on his appalling record.  Even low-information voters have to flush that toilet ten times, and don hazmat suits to clean up their broken cancer-causing CFL light bulbs.

Tony Bennett: Wonderful Artist, Political Lunatic

Feb 7, 2013 6:13 AM PT

86 year-old Tony Bennett is in the news again, this time for uttering yet-another bit of left-wing lunacy. Yesterday, in a press conference loaded with anti-Second Amendment celebrities wearing their prescription-less "smart" glasses, Bennett claimed that gun ownership would turn America into Nazi Germany. Even though, you know, one of Hitler's early chess moves towards the "Final Solution" was to confiscate guns from Jews.

Back in 2011, although he later apologized, and in the heart of our mourning the ten-year anniversary of the September 11th attacks, Bennett blamed America for 9/11.

No more Obama "dream team"

Feb 7, 2013 5:57 AM PT

The nomination of Sally Jewell of REI to lead the Department of the Interior yesterday was probably the least controversial of President Barack Obama's Cabinet picks--and that's saying something. While he loaded up on experts and egos in his first term, most of the most talented Obama veterans have left already--and few of the Democratic Party's true stars seem to be eager to make themselves available. It's possible that the Clinton alums are waiting for 2016, but that is only a partial explanation for the dearth of willing and available talent.

(Michelle) Obama beats (Sara) Netanyahu

Feb 7, 2013 5:42 AM PT

The contrast in leadership styles between President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has tended to favor the latter. However, there is one area in which Obama has bested his rival ally: fashion. More precisely, it is Michelle Obama that has trumped Sara Netanyahu, according to the media.

The Jerusalem Post reports that the Israeli press is in an uproar over a largely see-through, skin-tight, black lace blouse that Mrs. Netanyahu wore on a TV program. Verdict: "Sara Netanyahu is no Michelle Obama."

Chess outrage

Feb 7, 2013 5:21 AM PT

In response to MD Senator plays chess during testimony on new state gun-grabbing law:

He's playing chess during gun control hearings?  A simulation of military combat and political upheaval?  A game the MSNBC brain trust would doubtless condemn as coded racism, given the color of the pieces and board?  A game that promotes religious intolerance by naming one of the pieces after a Christian religious office?  A game in which the fat cat corporate Queen gets to do just about anything she wants, while the 99-percenter pawns are marched off to die in a rich man's war?  To the fainting couches!
