HOUSTON, TEXAS–Chris Cox, Executive Director for the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) spoke with Breitbart Texas’ Bob Price about plans to block President Obama’s anti-gun rights nominee for Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy.
During the interview, Cox discussed the NRA’s opposition to President Obama’s nomination of Dr. Murthy and why gun owners and NRA members should be concerned about the move. Following that, Cox discussed two major court victories the NRA achieved in California and Illinois regarding expanding the rights of citizens to defend themselves through the practice of licensed concealed carry of firearms.
Because 2014 is an important election year that could potentially shift the balance of power in the U.S. Senate, Cox explained the actions the ILA is taking to ensure that candidates who support the 2nd Amendment will be elected.
Cox then discusses an ongoing scandal involving the Obama Administration – Operation Fast & Furious.
Finally, Cox jumped into discussing the Texas Governor’s race between Greg Abbott and Wendy Davis. Without hesitation, Cox said, “I think we need to elect Abbott, governor of Texas.”
