FALFURRIAS, Texas–A previously deported felon from El Salvador was captured near a Wal-Mart store south of the city of Falfurrias. His travel partner managed to escape the search team which included a U.S. Border Patrol helicopter.

Breitbart Texas witnessed a team effort that included non-paid reserve deputies from the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office, a Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden, a U.S. Border Patrol helicopter and a member of the Border Patrol’s elite BORSTAR team. The effort led to the apprehension of a returning illegal alien from El Salvador who admitted he was a felon and had previously been deported. The heavily tattooed man was living in Virginia at the time of his deportation and spoke very fluent English.

He was observed travelling with another man who managed to evade the search and disappeared back into the thick mesquite brush covered field behind the Wal-Mart which is located about a mile south of the town of Falfurrias.

The illegal alien said he had not had food or water for a least three days. He was given water by the BORSTAR team member. Because he had been running from the search team for a while, he was unable to hold the water down and vomited several times.

Deputy Daniel Walden told Breitbart Texas, “The man began to lie about having a companion in the fields. He didn’t want to give up his partner who was also heavily tattooed.” Walden said the BORSTAR agent told him the helicopter observed the other alien and he observed two different sets of fresh footprints in the soft sand of the desert like fields.

Falfurrias is located about 100 miles from the Texas/Mexico border but it a hub of human smuggling activity because of the Border Patrol checkpoint located thirteen miles south of town.

If the alien had not been discovered, he would have been picked up in one of the nearby parking lots. He admitted his destination was Houston. The BORSTAR agent took custody of the Salvadorian man and transported him to a processing station. Brooks County deputies continued the search but were unable to locate the other alien.Breitbart Texas was engaged in a ride-along with the police officers who volunteer their off-duty time to serve as non-paid deputies for the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Walden is a volunteer reserve deputy for Brooks County. In his regular job, he serves as acting police chief of the Donna Independent School District Police Department. He has organized the Border Brotherhood of Texas, a group of sworn police officers who are volunteering their time to help the distressed Brooks County Sheriff’s Office.
