Veteran Republican Analyst Matt Mackowiak Joins Breitbart Texas as Weekly Columnist

Matt Mackowiak–a well-known Republican operative, conservative activist, political analyst and Vice Chairman of the Travis County Republican Party–will be providing exclusive commentary for the readers of Breitbart Texas with a weekly column on politics. Mackowiak is the co-founder of the nonpartisan political website MustReadTexas.com, a political analyst for KTBC Fox 7 in Austin and a biweekly columnist for The Austin American-Statesman.

Mackowiak is an Austin native and a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, who has spent his career working in the Bush administration, on Capitol Hill, and managing campaigns.

His columns will focus on campaigns, public policy and politics, at the local, state and national level and help Breitbart Texas readers better understand how politics really works.

Breitbart Texas Managing Director Brandon Darby said, “Matt has amazing insight into both the Texas political scene, as well as the national. I’m very happy that our readers will have his unique perspectives.”

Mackowiak said, “I am thrilled to be joining Breitbart Texas with a weekly column. It is remarkable that in less than five months, Breitbart Texas has had an immediate and growing influence on Texas politics, adding a high octane conservative perspective with original reporting and exclusive commentary that was sorely needed for our state. Breitbart Texas is breaking news every day and I am an avid reader of the site. I hope to provide interesting, timely, well-developed columns that readers find enlightening and valuable.”

Mackowiak has advised two U.S. Senators and a governor, and has worked on campaigns across the country.

In 2014, he helped John Ratcliffe defeat 17-term U.S. Rep. Ralph Hall (R-TX) in primary runoff in Texas’ 4th congressional district, helped Texas Supreme Court Justice Jeff Brown win his primary by the third largest margin of any Republican statewide official this cycle, and helped Texas House Ways and Means chairman Harvey Hilderbran (R-Kerrville) in his four-way run for Texas Comptroller, where he finished second and won over 300,000 votes and 59 counties, despite being outspent by over $2 million. Mackowiak also managed Bill Flores’ 25-point victory over ten term U.S. Rep. Chet Edwards (D-TX) in Texas’ 17th district in 2010.

Breitbart Texas is proud to add a respected analyst and operative to our growing list of contributors and columnists on this site.
