Planned Parenthood Incurs Violations For Storing Aborted Babies in Janitor’s Closet

Two Planned Parenthood clinics in Pennsylvania are being cited for violations that included biohazard containers found in a janitor’s closet and baby body parts discovered decomposing in bags. The Locust Street Planned Parenthood facility has been out of compliance with state laws at various times over at least the past three years. Violations have been in the areas of life safety, fire safety minimum standards, anesthesia recovery guidelines, drug storage, and operating room construction.

Are Safety Requirements at Abortion Clinics Now Undue Burdens?

The State has a legitimate interest in seeing to it that abortion, like any other medical procedure, is performed under circumstances that insure maximum safety for the patient. This interest obviously extends at least to the performing physician and his staff, to the facilities involved, to the availability of after-care, and to adequate provision for any complication or emergency that might arise.

The Center for Medical Progress (CMP) has released 10 undercover videos secretly shot in and around Planned Parenthood facilities. The videos seek to prove that America’s largest abortion provider was impermissibly modifying abortion procedures to help harvest fetal organs from babies who were still alive, and whose mothers who were not told how their child’s remains would be used in macabre medical experiments.

Supreme Court to Hear Major Abortion Case in 2016

The case is Whole Women’s Health v. Cole, challenging a Texas law that requires abortion doctors to be admitted to practice in local hospitals, and that abortion facilities meet the same requirements as most medical facilities in terms of quality and care. Arguments are expected in March or April 2016, with a decision by the end of June.
