MEXICO CITY - Forecasters say Hurricane Norbert has regained strength and become a Category 2 storm as it takes aim at Mexico's Baja California Peninsula.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Norbert's has sustained winds of 160 kilometres an hour. On Friday morning it was centred in the Pacific Ocean 445 kilometres southwest of Baja's southern tip.
It was moving north at 17 kilometres an hour.
Forecasters predict Norbert will weaken somewhat before hitting land.
It is expected to plow into a relatively unpopulated stretch of coast north of the resort of Cabo San Lucas early Saturday.
