WASHINGTON, July 2 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is the daily "Profile America" feature for July 3 from the U.S. Census Bureau:
MONDAY, JULY 3: BE NICE TO NEW JERSEY
Profile America - Monday, July 3rd. There's one state that comedians seem to enjoy putting down more than any other - so much so, that this has been proclaimed "Be nice to New Jersey week." It's a time to look beyond the jokes about the "joisey" accent and the famous mosquitoes and recognize the scenic diversity that most people never see who use only the main highways to and from New York City. President Grover Cleveland came from New Jersey - and famed inventor Thomas Edison had his laboratory there. Long-time singing star Bruce Springsteen calls the state home. New Jersey ranks 10th in population among the states; but, because of its small physical size, it is first in population density, at 1,173 people per square mile. The U.S. average is 83. You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau on the Web at http://www.census.gov .
