Five climbers were hit by an avalanche on Mt. Kamihorokamettoku in Hokkaido Friday afternoon, with one going missing and the others being injured, police said.
Of the four, two men and a woman are unconscious, while another woman sustained injuries to her waist, they added.
The four were rescued by other climbers, according to the police.
They will launch a search for the missing climber on Saturday.
The five, members of the Japanese Alpine Club, were climbing around the volcanic vent of the 1.920-meter mountain, together with six others, when they were caught in the avalanche, according to the police.
