Pakistan officials: Missile strike kills 8 or more

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) - Pakistani security officials say a suspected U.S. missile strike has killed at least eight people in the country's troubled northwest.

Two attack occurred Friday in Pakistan's North Waziristan region, a stronghold of Taliban and al-Qaida militants blamed for attacks on U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

One Pakistani security official says 10 people died. Another puts the toll at eight. The identity of the victims is not clear.

Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak on the record to media.

Unmanned U.S. aircraft are believed to have carried out at least 18 missile strikes in Pakistan since August.
