EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey state troopers were surprised when a helicopter owned by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg made a practice landing in a Giants Stadium parking lot before a U2 concert.

State Police Sgt. Stephen Jones says Bloomberg wasn't aboard when the copter landed in a shuttle bus lot Thursday.

Pilot Toby Wilson had flown Bloomberg into New Jersey and the mayor took a car to the concert.

Jones says air traffic controllers from nearby Teterboro Airport monitored the flight.

Wilson took off after telling troopers he would not return.
