Marathon: Olympic gold, silver medalists to run in Yokohama+
TOKYO, Oct. 20 (AP) - (Kyodo)—Beijing Olympic gold medalist Constantina Dita of Romania and silver medalist Catherine Ndereba of Kenya will run in the Yokohama International Women's Marathon on Nov. 15, the Japan Association of Athletics Federations said Tuesday.
Kiyoko Shimahara, who won the Hokkaido Marathon in August, is among five domestic invitees in the race, which will also serve as a selection event for Japanese runners for the Asian Games in China's Guangzhou in November 2010.
The race starts in front of Yamashita Park and finishes inside the park. The participants will loop a relatively flat course in central Yokohama three times.
