NEW YORK - New York gold futures hit an all-time high of $1,088.50 an ounce Tuesday on the Indian central bank's purchase of gold from the International Monetary Fund.
Most-active gold for December delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange's Comex division eclipsed the previous record high of $1,072.00, registered on Oct. 14.

VIENNA - Czech President Vaclav Klaus said Tuesday he has signed the Lisbon Treaty, finalizing the country's ratification process of the new basic law for the European Union.
Klaus signed the treaty hours after the constitutional court of the Czech Republic ruled it is in accordance with the country's constitution.
---------- Police to raid Union Holdings head office over alleged stock manipulation
OSAKA - Police and securities authorities will search the head office of Union Holdings Co. and other places possibly Wednesday in connection with the alleged manipulation of its stock prices by a speculative trading group in 2007, sources close to the investigation said Tuesday.
The Osaka prefectural police and the Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission suspect that the president of Union Holdings, listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, and eight speculative traders have been involved in the alleged manipulation of its stock prices, which would constitute the violation of the financial transaction trading law, the sources said.
