Shimizu figures to make 280 million yen in the second year of his contract next year -- up 40 million yen from this season.

It is unusual to have multiyear deal in trade but the BayStars have agreed to pick up Shimizu's salary as they are desperately trying to add depth to their starting rotation. Shimizu went 6-7 with a 4.42 ERA in 23 games this past season.
