LEAD: Geithner to visit Japan next week before APEC+

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will travel to Tokyo for two days starting next Tuesday for talks with Japanese government officials, the Treasury Department said Wednesday.
Geithner's visit -- his first since taking the Treasury chief post -- precedes his participation in a finance ministerial meeting of the 21- member Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Singapore on Nov. 12.
"While in Tokyo, the secretary will meet with senior government officials to discuss policies to bring about strong, sustainable and balanced global growth," the Treasury said.
