SINGAPORE, Nov. 8 (AP) - (Kyodo)—The following is the gist of a draft of the joint statement to be issued by the leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum after their Nov. 14 to 15 summit in Singapore.

The APEC leaders:

-- agree the global economy is in the stage of recovery, which is not yet on a solid footing.

-- will focus on structural policies to narrow the development gap between economies and ensure future economic growth is more inclusive.

-- reaffirm their commitment to fighting climate change and reaching a good agreement at a key U.N. conference next month in Copenhagen.

-- firmly reject all forms of protectionism and are ready to exercise all possible flexibility to reach an ambitious and balanced conclusion to the World Trade Organization's Doha Round liberalization talks in 2010.

-- will continue to put in place building blocks toward a possible Free Trade Area of the Asia Pacific in the future.
