TOKYO - The mass rally against the controversial plan on relocating the U.S. Marine Corps' Futemma Air Station within Okinawa Prefecture "symbolized the mixed feelings of Okinawa residents," Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama said Monday.
Commenting on the rally of more than 20,000 people in Ginowan Sunday, Hatoyama said in Tokyo, "We need to think a great deal of their feelings."

TOKYO - Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama instructed Cabinet ministers Sunday night to make further efforts to resolve the issue of how to rescue ailing Japan Airlines Corp., government officials said.
Speaking to reporters after meeting with Hatoyama and other ministers, transport minister Seiji Maehara indicated the government will aim to release a JAL rescue package by Friday, the same day the airline is scheduled to report its earnings results for the April-September first half of the current fiscal year.

KUMAMOTO, Japan - Three people were found dead Sunday afternoon at a farmhouse in Ueki, Kumamoto Prefecture, police said.
In addition to the three, who are believed to be a man in his 20s and a couple in their 60s, a woman was found unconscious with serious injuries, according to the police.
