YANGON, Nov. 21 (AP) - (Kyodo)—Myanmar and Laos signed treaties Friday on visa exemption and avoidance of double taxation, a Myanmar state-run newspaper reported Saturday.

Notes were exchanged after agreements were signed by Laotian Deputy Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and Myanmar's foreign and finance ministers at a ceremony in Myanmar's administrative capital Naypyitaw, the New Light of Myanmar said.

Myanmar Prime Minister Gen. Thein Sein witnessed the signing of the agreements.

It is Myanmar's first visa exemption treaty with another country.

Myanmar has a 240-kilometer-long land border with Laos in the east.

Both countries are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
