Fresh off the circuit from a visit to Paris, during which she marched alongside world leaders against the terrorism that took the lives of 17 people at the hands of Islamic fundamentalists, German Chancellor Angela Merkel joined a march in her own country organized by Muslim and Turkish community groups calling for an even more “open and tolerant” Germany and to counter anti-Islam protests that have been taking the nation by storm.

Report: Kamala Harris to Announce Run for Boxer’s Seat

California’s Attorney General Kamala Harris is expected to announce Tuesday that she will be seeking retiring Senator Barbara Boxer’s seat in 2016. The anticipated news comes on the heels of Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom’s Monday Facebook announcement that he would not be competing for Boxer’s seat.

U.S. Oil Prices Fall Below 50 Dollars a Barrel

For the first time since 2009, the price of United States oil fell below $50 a barrel, and Brent crude (West Texas Intermediate crude) fell to a five-and-a-half year low of $51.12 per barrel. That statistic is in great part due to fracking and a global excess in oil supply, combined with OPEC’s refusal to slow its production.
