In the week since John Russell Houser allegedly shot and killed two people in Lafayette, Louisiana’s Grand Theatre, gun sales in the area have risen and concealed carry applications are “through the roof.”

On July 26 a Hillview, Kentucky, man was arrested and charged with “first degree criminal mischief and first degree wanton endangerment” after shooting down a drone that was “hovering” over his property.

Less than a week after John Russell Houser allegedly opened fire inside a Grand Theatre in Lafayette, Louisiana, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), called on their colleagues to join together and pass more regulations on gun shows.

On July 25, an escort in Charleston, West Virginia, shot and killed Neal Falls, a man she met via a website and whom she claims was determined to kill her from the moment she answered the door. Police now believe the man may be linked to as many as six deaths in the last 14 months.

During a recent appearance on Newsmax TV, Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz said the Second Amendment is an “absurd thing” in our constitution and that our legal framework needs to be adjusted “to create a presumption against gun ownership instead of a presumption in favor of gun ownership.”

On the night of July 26, concealed carry permit holder Patrick Ewing drew his gun and shot Thomas McCary, who allegedly shot at Ewing. McCary reportedly then stood with a gun in each hand, shooting at Ewing’s sister and her one-year-old baby, as well.

In the wake of the Lafayette theater attack, Democrat presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is calling for Congress to expand background checks to every sale so that all gun purchasers must pass the same check alleged gunman John Russell Houser passed for his handgun.
