The investigation by the Travis County District Attorney’s Office into alleged misconduct by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has been closed with no charges being filed. Allegations were made against Paxton while he was a State Senator and was running for the Attorney General position he won in the November election. Paxton paid a civil fine of $1,000 after he acknowledged he had failed to properly file registration papers with the State Securities Board.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared February 2nd to be “Chris Kyle Day” to honor the Texan who became known the most lethal sniper in American history. Kyle was also recently immortalized in the blockbuster film “American Sniper.”

Republican Party of Texas Chairman Steve Munisteri surprised his fellow state Republicans, not by his resignation, but by announcing that he was joining the staff of Kentucky Senator and presidential hopeful Rand Paul (R-KY). Texas Rangers are investigating the police shooting of a 17-year-old girl in East Texas. Three officers of the Longview Police Department were called to the lobby of the police station where they were confronted by Kristiana Coignard. She was allegedly brandishing a weapon and police shot and fatally wounded her.

An Islamic Tribunal using Sharia law in Texas has been confirmed by Breitbart Texas. The tribunal is operating as a non-profit organization in Dallas. One of the attorneys for the tribunal said participation and acceptance of the tribunal’s decisions are “voluntary.”

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick (R) released the appointments of fourteen Senate Committee assignments. The appointments include twelve Republican chairmanships and two Democrat chairmanships. Patrick campaigned on reducing the number of Democrats as committee chairs. The announcement of committee assignments was released by the Lt. Governor’s office on Friday afternoon.

Congressman Randy Weber (R-TX) has re-introduced a bill to hold Central American nations accountable for illegal immigrants from their countries by cutting off foreign aid. The bill (H.R. 439, attached below) is in response to last summer’s invasion of illegal immigrants and unaccompanied minors mostly from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.

Two Texas Legislators are proposing to amend the Texas Constitution to protect the “Right to Hunt and Fish.” Resolutions to create the amendment have been authored by Sen. Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) and Rep. Trent Ashby (R-Lufkin). If passed, the proposal would place the issue on the ballot for voter approval in November 2015.

An El Paso federal court jury convicted an El Paso County Probation Officer and three other Folk Nation/Gangster Disciples on charges of trafficking a minor female in a sex trafficking case. The men were charged with forcing a 16-year-old girl into prostitution where she was forced to have sex for money with as many as six men per day.

GARLAND, Texas – The protest over the Honor the Prophet conference nearly turned violent as the two sides clashed over an incident in the parking lot. The confrontation occurred as a Muslim driver was laying on his car horn as he attempted to leave the parking lot and a protester placed a sign with an image of Muhammad under the front tire of the Muslim’s vehicle.

GARLAND, Texas — Pamela Geller told a crowd of nearly one thousand protestors that “we’re living in an age where evil is good, and good is evil.” Her remarks came during a free speech rally staged to protest the “Follow the Prophet” assembly underway in a Garland Independent School District convention center.

Texas Lt. Governor-elect Dan Patrick was attacked by a left-of-center organization for being transparent about his coming senate administration. In a press conference on Thursday, Patrick announced the formation of the first-ever “Lt. Governor Advisory Boards.” Within hours of the announcement, Patrick was attacked by Texans for Public Justice (TPJ) for creating a “Shadow Government.”
