Cartel Chronicles: Death Squads Run Rampant in Mexican Border Cities

REYNOSA, Tamaulipas – The non-stop cartel violence in this border city has led to death squads scouring the area looking for their targets. Their victims will likely face a slow and torturous death or if they are lucky a quick execution in front of their families.

While in other parts of the world groups of cartel members kidnapping and executing individuals would be a major story, on the border cities of Reynosa and Matamoros the practice of the “levanton” or the quick grab has become a daily occurrence that is never reported on the local news outlets

The nightmare took place earlier last month, on a late Sunday night in the residential neighborhood called Jardines Del Pedregal or Stony Gardens. At night the streets in this city are deserted since the violence ended any resemblance of a night life years ago. The silence of what had been a quiet night ended when an all too familiar scene took place.

Cartel Chronicles: Cartel War Continues Forcing Heightened Security for Border Festivals

MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas – The traditional Mexican celebrations recently held in this border city set off a massive security detail by state and federal authorities looking to reestablish peace to the area. Meanwhile, drug cartel members continued their large scale gun battles in the surrounding rural areas.

Historically the festivities in Matamoros have been held in a simultaneous fashion with the Charro Day’s Celebration held in Brownsville where the mayors of both cities meet in one of the international bridges to exchange pleasantries. While this year the festivities were held without any problem, two warring factions of the Gulf Cartel continued their fighting along highways and rural areas.

Breitbart Texas traveled to the Mexican border cities of Reynosa and Matamoros to recruit citizen journalists willing to risk their lives and expose the cartels silencing their communities. Op-Ed: Texas Attorney General Stands Up for Texas Marriage Law

The importance of having strong, competent leaders fighting for Texas is never more apparent than when the will of Texans and the rule of law are under assault. That was clearly evident last week when a judge in Travis County declared our state’s same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional, despite the will of more than three-quarters of Texans who voted for the amendment. Two days later, another judge in Travis County in a separate case directed the Travis County Clerk to issue a marriage license to a Democrat-Party-connected same-sex couple.

NBC News anchor Brian Williams steps down after controversy

Op-Ed: Brian Williams, Hillary Clinton Stole Valor From Our Military

Over the last few days, the uproar about news anchor Brian Williams’ claims of taking fire in Iraq in 2003 has reached extraordinary heights. I was amazed at the PhotoShopping frenzy that took place when his deception came to light. Images of Williams eating pizza with Jesus at the Last Supper; sitting in Ford’s Theater at the assassination of Abraham Lincoln; and crossing the Delaware with General George Washington filled my Facebook feed and probably yours as well. They were all fake, all funny and all pretty much outrageous.

EPA Targeting Oil & Gas Industry Even Though Emissions Down

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken yet another regulatory action to interfere with oil and gas production – long considered an activity with de minimus impact on air quality. The Agency now sets its sights on methane, which is the primary component of natural gas. Methane emissions from natural gas systems have fallen by 14.3% from 2008-2012. Any leaks from hydraulically fractured natural gas wells have fallen by 73% from 2011-2013. In this same time frame, the U.S. has become the world’s leading producer of natural gas, nearly quadrupling production rates from those in 2008, as well as increasing natural gas pipelines by 30%. In spite of the steep decline of methane emissions and steady economic growth, the White House recently moved forward with the Climate Action Plan, directing the EPA to propose expansive rules by the summer of 2015. The new regulations aim to reduce methane emissions by 40-45% from 2012 levels by 2025 through a series of actions targeting the oil and gas industry.
