Notably the two areas that saw uprisings following police-involved deaths of unarmed black men St. Louis and Baltimore, also saw spikes. Baltimore the first half of the year has experienced 155 murders compared to 105 last year. St. Louis has had 93 murders this year compared with 58 in the same timeframe last year.
“Any violent crime is tragic, but the fact that the senseless death in San Francisco arose directly from a ‘sanctuary city’ deliberately obstructing policies to remove illegal immigrants who have committed crimes is appalling and inexcusable,” Shelby, the Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce-Justice-Science, says.
The murder of a young woman on a San Francisco pier at the hands of an illegal immigrant has highlighted the dangers of sanctuary cities policies, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) explained in an interview with Brietbart News.
“Compared to the English-proficient population, the LEP population was less educated and more likely to live in poverty,” the Migration Policy Institute reports. “Employed LEP men in 2013 were more likely to work in construction, natural resources, and maintenance occupations than English-proficient men, while LEP women were much more likely to be employed in service and personal-care occupations than English-proficient women.”
Speaking to reporters Thursday, Boehner disagreed with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s recent comments about Mexican immigrants and pointed to the controversial nature of dealing with immigration. “I disagree with Mr. Trump’s comments and frankly I think when you look at the presidential candidates, they’ve all pretty well made their position clear,” Boehner said.
His bill, introduced Wednesday, comes on the heels of the murder of Kate Steinle at the hands of a multiple-deportee, multiple felon who was released from custody due to San Francisco’s sanctuary polices. “The senseless murder of a young woman in San Francisco last week tragically illustrates that the politicization of the immigration debate has now swamped even common-sense efforts to protect public safety,” Cotton said. “It is unacceptable that cities would issue ordinances that explicitly aim to frustrate federal immigration laws that are supposed to keep illegal immigrant felons off the streets.”
“If not for sanctuary cities and the Obama administration’s continued destruction in other areas of immigration enforcement, Kate and others surely would be alive today,” Sen. Jeff Sessions said on the Senate floor. “Her death could have been prevented. But the extreme open borders ideology that rejects even the deportation of criminals — that is, people who commit other crimes than the crime of entering the country illegally — has led to her death, as it has led to the death of many others.”
Specifically, in its statement SFSD claimed that there was no “judiciary order of removal” for the suspect Francisco Sanchez. “That is flat out wrong and flies in the face of all the facts that are in the public domain right now,” the aide told Breitbart News.

Barletta’s bill, the Mobilizing Against Sanctuary Cities Act, would strip federal funding for a minimum of one year to any state or locality that has laws or policies in place obstructing the enforcement of federal immigration law. The jurisdiction would only regain their federal funding once the attorney general verifies full compliance.
“This Court has expressed its willingness to believe that these actions were accidental and not done purposefully to violate this Court’s order. Nevertheless, it is shocked and surprised at the cavalier attitude the Government has taken with regard to its ‘efforts’ to rectify this situation,” Hanen wrote in his order.

The administration announced the elimination of the highly successful Secure Communities program and put PEP in its place last year in conjunction with the executive amnesty programs President Obama offered up in November. “Under PEP, countless criminal aliens who have managed to evade conviction will be released, endangering our communities. More crimes will be committed, and precious resources will be spent to re-apprehend these individuals, a process that significantly endangers the safety of your officers and agents,” a group of Senators wrote in a letter to Department of Homeland Security Sec. Jeh Johnson Tuesday.
While illegal immigrants account for about 3.5 percent of the U.S population, they represented 36.7 percent of federal sentences in FY 2014 following criminal convictions, according to U.S. Sentencing Commission data obtained by Breitbart News.

In 2013 the Obama administration released 36,007 criminal immigrants who had nearly 88,000 convictions. Those convictions included 193 homicide convictions, 426 sexual assault convictions, 303 kidnapping convictions, and 1,075 aggravated assault convictions. In 2014 the administration released another 30,558 criminal immigrants, who had a total of 79,059 convictions.
Hunter’s bill would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to restrict funding to any state or locality that has in place a law, policy or procedure in contravention of federal immigration law, preventing “state or local law enforcement officials from gathering information regarding the citizenship or immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of any individual.
“My heart breaks for the family and friends of Kate Steinle, as they have seen a promising young life ended too soon, and the suspect is a criminal who should never have been in this country in the first place” Barletta said in a statement Monday. “That her accused killer is a seven-time felon, was deported five times, and was prevented from being deported a sixth by San Francisco policies, is as maddening as it is inexplicable.”
According to an HHS report, provided to Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and obtained by Breitbart News, in Fiscal Year 2014 immigration officials released 53,550 unaccompanied illegal immigrant minors to sponsors throughout the U.S.
According to the Irish Times report, Boehner also spoke about how Ireland’s leader, Taoiseach Enda Kenny, has often pressed him on the immigration matter. There are about 50,000 Irish immigrants living in the U.S. illegally, many having overstated their visas.
